About Me
Jaime Ascencio, PhD, LP, HTR
Hello!
I completed my doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2020 and am a Licensed Psychologist and Registered Horticultural Therapist.
I've immersed myself in the nature-based therapy world in many ways: I have conducted and published research, given presentations at conferences and community organizations, run therapy groups for a variety of client demographics and presenting concerns, and guest lectured about ecopsychology in university courses and therapy supervision groups.
I also have training and supervised experience in:
providing supervision to therapists-in-training and horticultural-therapists-in-training
working with neurodivergent clients (e.g., Autistic, gifted, ADHD)
facilitating group therapy
teaching university courses
(I currently teach full-time at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and I teach the Psychology of Harry Potter at Colorado State University)
Outside of work, I am a wife, mother to an energetic toddler, and owner of two pet birds. I love to garden, be outside, play soccer, read, spend time with loved ones, and play board games.
